Bridge the Gap at 52nd Street

Since 1989, the Foundation for Ada-Canyon Trail Systems (FACTS) has been dedicated to closing gaps in the Boise River Greenbelt and creating safe, scenic, and connected pathways along the 64-mile stretch of the Boise River, from Lucky Peak Dam to its confluence with the Snake River.

For the past several years, FACTS has been collaborating with its partners to bridge one of the last significant gaps in the Greenbelt at 52nd Street in Garden City. The project involves building a bridge across the Boise River just east of 52nd that will connect to the existing Greenbelt pathways on Plantation Island. The bridge would also facilitate safe access to and from the new park at the Expo and the nearby Athletic Club Boise Soccer Stadium, which is expected to attract an additional million visitors to the area annually.

FACTS collaborated with Garden City and Ada County to secure a $2,181,000 federal grant from COMPASS for the design and construction of the bridge. To utilize these federal funds, FACTS agreed to raise local matching funds of $17,710 by August 1, 2026, for bridge design, and an additional $112,290 by August 1, 2027 for bridge construction.
