Our Work

Here at the Treasure Valley Clean Cities Coalition we are dedicated to advancing transportation solution’s across Idaho. We work in cooperation with local fleets, businesses, government agencies, and communities to support the transition to alternative fuels and adoption of energy efficient vehicle technologies.

Current Projects

Advancing Alternative Fuels and Fuel Saving Technologies in Idaho

One of our core projects is implementing our cooperative agreement with the United States Department of Energy. As a Department of Energy designated Clean Cities & Communities Partner, we are tasked with the responsibility of expanding alternative fuel infrastructure, providing educational and outreach resources on alternative fuels, and collaborating with partners on projects that benefit our community. Through our programs, we aim to strengthen our region’s energy independence, support local economic growth, and promote practical, cost-effective transportation solutions that benefit businesses and the community.

ChargeWest

ChargeWest™ is a coalition of Intermountain West states dedicated to enhancing electric vehicle corridors throughout the western United States. The initiative focuses on expanding infrastructure in rural gateway communities, state and national parks, monuments, recreation areas, and scenic byways. Participating states include Arizona, Colorado, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, Utah, and Wyoming. Check out there website below:

World Resources Institute Grant - Electric School Bus Adoption Academy

World Resources Institute’s Electric School Bus Initiative (ESBI) is partnering with Equitable Cities and Greater Washington Region Clean Cities Coalition (GWRCCC) on a US Department of Energy Vehicle Technologies proposal to create an Electric School Bus Equitable Adoption Academy (“ESB Academy”) and train-the-trainer program to support Clean Cities Coalitions (Coalitions) and partner school districts.

Washington State University Energy Program Grant - Expanding Access to Zero Emissions Vehicles in the NW

Rural residents are at risk of being left out of the zero-emission vehicle market transformation. This project will provide community-directed engagement, outreach, and education followed by targeted technical assistance and training in partnership with local rural utilities to increase access to zero emission vehicle adoption and all the benefits they bring to a community.

Northern Mountain West Collaborative Expansion Project

Focusing on the fuels identified in the US National Blueprint for Transportation Decarbonization, this collaborative, grant-funded, project aims to significantly increase the adoption of alternative fuel vehicles and fuels, focusing on medium and heavy-duty fleets in Idaho, Montana, North Dakota and Wyoming. In particular, our team will work to expand the use of renewable diesel and electricity as viable fuel sources in the Northern Mountain West of the United States.

City of Boise Youth Climate Action Fund

Our intern, Pia Goodell, applied in June of 2024 for a $5,000 micro-grant to install e-bike and e-scooter charging on Boise State University’s campus. After six months of collaboration with the university and local businesses, we were able to install 3 chargers and over 15 signs on campus. The project focused on empowering students, faculty, and community members to utilize micro-mobility transportation to get to, from, and around campus.
