This Spring 2024, the U.S. Department of Energy’s Clean Cities University Workforce Development Program (CCUWDP) invites undergraduate and graduate students to start their professional journey in our clean transportation transition.

The Clean Cities Coalition Network has been working at the forefront of the nation’s clean energy and economic security since 1993. These coalitions cultivate partnerships and find innovative ways to advance equitable, efficient, and clean transportation fuels and technologies.

As the workforce is continually growing, we invite you to join us and learn more about how to shift the way our nation thinks about and accesses clean transportation.

Interns in this competitively-selected program will gain first-hand experience working with dynamic Clean Cities coordinators and their stakeholders, to make our future better together.

The Treasure Valley Clean Cities Coalition

In the Boise, Meridian, Nampa, and Caldwell, ID area, the Clean Cities Coalition hiring an intern for the Spring 2024 is the Treasure Valley Clean Cities Coalition.

The Treasure Valley Clean Cities Coalition is an independent 501c3 non-profit organization that aims to advance the use of alternative fuels and fuel saving technologies in the Treasure Valley, Idaho. Their mission is to foster energy resilience, economic security, and improve air quality by advancing affordable alternative transportation fuels and fuel-saving technologies and practices. They achieve this work by building community partnerships and through education and outreach events.

Clean Cities University Workforce Development Program:

Spring 2024 The Clean Cities University Workforce Development Program is an initiative of Clean Cities, a government-industry partnership sponsored by the U.S. Department of Energy’s Vehicle Technologies Program. Clean Cities strives to reduce petroleum consumption in the transportation sector in nearly

100 communities across the country. Since the creation of the CCUWDP in 2010, Clean Cities has hosted more than 500 interns in more than 75 Coalitions.

The Clean Cities internship will give students studying communications, public relations, business, marketing, engineering or environmental sciences, the opportunity to grow public awareness and expand the markets of advanced vehicle technologies, alternative fuels, and practices that reduce the consumption of petroleum. Students have participated in a vast array of transportation-related environmental projects, including engaging in community outreach, developing social media campaigns, organizing fleet events, convening stakeholders, and much more.

Specific Details:

• Up to 55 internships are available at competitively-selected U.S. Clean Cities Coalition locations working with dynamic Clean Cities coordinators and their stakeholders. Many past internships have led to permanent positions! Candidates interested in serving the Boise, Meridian, Nampa, Caldwell areas can select “Boise, ID” as the area they are interested in interning with in the online application.
• All majors accepted. Emphasis on: Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, Business, Engineering, and Environmental Sciences.
• Positions are 15 or 20 hours per week (determined by the Coalition) for 14 weeks.
• Internship dates: approximately January 11, through April 26, 2024. The exact start/end dates are determined by individual coalitions.
• Stipends range from $3,150 – $5,040 depending on academic level and the number of hours assigned by the coalition.
